This summer I had the opportunity to paint three electricity boxes for Van Kastje naar Canvasje, this time in Tuinbouwstraat, Utrecht. For this edition, ten makers were selected to transform boxes in the Pijlsweerd-Oudenoord neighborhood.
My three designs were inspired by stories from local residents, highlighting themes connected to the area: greening, children playing, and the many community initiatives. One story told of a man who kept more than 100 pigeons in his garden. He passed away last year, and since then the skies have been quiet. I chose to include the pigeons as a tribute to him and his presence in the neighborhood.
